What To Do With My Current TW Drama Feels

I have to tell this blog the dramas that I’m currently watching because I am positively bursting with major feels right now. By the way, they are all Taiwanese dramas. TW dramas are doing so good right now and I, for one, am very grateful for it. I’m watching three simultaneously and this is the most I’ve done for current dramas. It is a pain waiting each week for the new subbed episode to come out but that’s fangirl life. I am going to try so very, very, very hard to be spoiler-free. I just want to release all these emotions inside.

back

Let’s start with Back to 1989 (1989一念間). It has 22 episodes, started on January and airs every Friday. Marcus Chang leads the cast in this fantasy/romance and boy! He is fine! Alright, I’ll tell you right out that all three dramas here are bursting with nostalgia and I have no problem with that. I try to blame it on my age. Anyway, Marcus Chang here is Chen Che who time travels to 1989, the year before he was born, and befriends his younger, “happier” mom and her”squad”. He tries to navigate the late 80s and early 90s while searching for his real father. It’s wonderfully strange for Chen Che to witness his mom’s younger self while he struggle with his growing feelings for his mom’s best friend. That’s right! He falls for his mom’s best friend! The 27-year difference bothered him at first and it’s so cute watching him struggle. Issues are quite heavy and serious but it didn’t dimmed the light on the romantic scenes. I, personally, love his mom’s romantic story. I really have no idea how they’re going to resolve the time travel issue and I can’t wait for the next episode next week!

refresh

The second drama is Refresh Man ( 後菜鳥的燦爛時代). It has 20 episodes and the broadcast started last March. Aaron Yan and Joanne Tseng stars in this romantic drama set in the workplace. Ok, first of all, I’m a just little bit tired of Aaron Yan typecasted as always the CEO/boss but of all his CEO roles, I like this one the best. They’re high school classmates who are both working for a cosmetics company. The drama revolves around workplace dilemmas like sales, office rivalry, etc. and romance, of course. The hairtie-jealousy issue is just freaking hilarious! Yes, I almost abandoned this drama because it was tainted with a racist element. I was genuinely angry when I realized what was happening. I should tell you that it was about skin color and you can d3ecide for yourself if you still want to watch it. I’m just too stuck on Aaron Yan for a decade now and I have an impulse to finish this drama and I’m so sorry if that could offend some people. Other than the racist implication, everything else is good here. I have got to love Aaron Yan’s  “boyfriend” vibe here.

love-seventeen

The third drama I lost my nuts to is Love @ Seventeen (我和我的十七歲 ). OK, I’ll straight out tell you not to trust the synopsis you read on the web. This is not a fantasy/time-travel drama. This is pure love. Ha! Alright, this drama is about second chances in life and love. I don’t know how to tell you just how much I love this drama and how much I hate the wait!!! I related to this story the most because of a few *cough* similar issues when I was 17. I won’t tell which issue. And mostly because I related to their age the most. The high school episodes are ADORABLE. The very main reason I may NEVER drop this drama is Lego Lee. Damn! That man never stops working with the dramas. Lego Lee. Lego Lee. Lego Lee. *shakes head* I can’t get him out of my head!  He’s is too freaking charming in this drama. I can’t stop looking at his expressions and his  winks and his facial muscles and his eyes and his smirk. I’m having difficulty dealing with this “Lego” feels. His character, He Hao Yi, is a man from my most secretive dreams. HA! Trust me, you’ll be wishing for your own He Hao Yi after two episodes. I need my He Hao Yi today and tomorrow. Where was my He Hao Yi when I needed him the most? I’m having a He Hao Yi addiction. I need He Hao Yi now! Yeah, that’s how bad it is.
I hope my senseless mumbles convinced you a bit to give this dramas a try. They may not be your cup of tea but just give it a little bit of taste. Maybe you’ll like it or maybe you’ll overflow with feels like I am currently drowning in right now. Good luck! Jia you!
